Farm Manager \n\nLocation: Preston, near Manchester\n\nSalary: £35,000 - £37,000 per annum plus bonus and accommodation.\n\nThe Farm Manager – Broiler Production is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a broiler poultry farm to ensure optimal bird health, welfare, productivity, and biosecurity. This role manages farm staff, monitors flock performance, and ensures compliance with company standards, animal welfare guidelines, and regulatory requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nManage day-to-day broiler farm operations, including feeding, watering, ventilation, and lighting programs\nMonitor flock health, growth rates, mortality, and feed conversion, taking corrective action as needed\nImplement and maintain strict biosecurity and animal welfare protocols\nSupervise, train, and schedule farm workers\nEnsure proper litter management, house preparation, and clean-out procedures\nCoordinate chick placement, harvesting, and transport activities\nMaintain accurate production records and reports\nOversee farm equipment, housing, and infrastructure maintenance\nEnsure compliance with food safety, animal welfare, environmental, and company regulations\nCommunicate regularly with veterinarians, field technicians, and company management\nManage inventory of feed, medications, and farm supplies\nQualifications & Experience\n\nDiploma or degree in Animal Science, Poultry Science, Agriculture, or related field (preferred)\nProven experience in broiler production or poultry farm management\nStrong understanding of broiler nutrition, health, and welfare\nLeadership and people-management skills\nAbility to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays\nBasic computer skills for record keeping and reporting\nPhysically able to work in a farm environment\nKey Skills & Competencies\n\nAttention to detail and strong observational skills\nProblem-solving and decision-making abilities\nTime management and organizational skills\nCommitment to animal welfare and biosecurity\nStrong communication and teamwork skills\nWorking Conditions\n\nOn-site role in a poultry farm environment\nExposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures\nMay require extended hours during critical production periods\nTo Apply \n\nIf you feel you are a suitable candidate and would like to work for Chesterfield Poultry, please do not hesitate to apply
